Gaim 2.0 on its way
I have been a long time Gaim user and love their multi-platform, multi-protocol messenger. I recently was having a small bug appear and headed off to Gaim's Site to check for any updates. There I found this:
"We've shifted all our efforts to finishing Gaim 2.0.0. Gaim 2.0.0 has a ton of great features, fixes every problem you've ever had with Gaim, makes drastic changes to huge parts of Gaim---especially status, includes three new protocols, and does a bunch of other amazing stuff. We're looking to feature freeze at the end of this month and release a month or so later"

"On a related note, the gaim-vv project—which aimed to offer a framework for voice and video support in Gaim—is being merged back into Gaim proper for hopeful incorporation into Gaim 2.0.0. This will be used to support Google Talk's voice as well as MSN and Yahoo! webcams."
This is very exciting news. Hopefully those of you that have tried gaim in the past and decided to not use it will check out the newest version upon release. I will be sure to but up my review of the product as soon as I try it out.

Yeah, voice and video have been a feature lacking from Gaim for a while. Hopefully this everything will work out when it's finished.
I like gaim because I can use it on Windows and Linux although Kopete looks pretty nice. Next time I boot into Linux I am going to have to compile it and check it out.
